Three Components
SuperTuning continuously monitors query execution history and system resource usage to keep Netezza performing at its best. It identifies slow, resource-intensive, or problematic queries, recommends optimisations, and gives administrators control over how resources are allocated across competing workloads — all through the SMF Control Studio interface.
SuperGovernance provides Database Activity Monitoring (DAM) for Netezza — detecting anomalous query behaviour, maintaining a tamper-proof audit log, and helping organisations meet GDPR, HIPAA, and other data protection obligations. Rather than relying on costly agent-based interception, SMF leverages native database logging and stores its findings in a secure enclave that database users cannot access or modify.
SuperCuration manages the data lifecycle within your Netezza environment: identifying and archiving aged data, reclaiming disk space, managing temporary objects, and ensuring housekeeping jobs run on schedule. Left unmanaged, Netezza systems accumulate bloat that slows query performance and complicates administration.
Event Management
Smart System Management is instrumented with SMF's event management system. Thresholds are configured for system health indicators — disk utilisation, query concurrency, replication lag, job failures — and alerts are raised before situations become outages.
Alerts are routed through configurable channels: email, webhook, or directly to the SMF Control Studio dashboard. There are no silent failures. If something goes wrong at 3am, someone is notified.
