Smart Associates was founded in 2003 from a simple observation: Netezza Performance Server systems are extraordinary pieces of engineering, but the organisations running them rarely have the deep specialist expertise needed to keep them running optimally over the long term. IBM's support was comprehensive but expensive. Generalised data support providers lacked the platform-specific depth to be genuinely useful.
We set out to fill that gap. Over time, that mission expanded from consulting and support into software: the Smart Management Frameworks suite, which automates the management tasks that most Netezza shops handle manually (or not at all), and Smart Data Frameworks, which automates the complex work of migrating and integrating Netezza data with modern cloud platforms.
As IBM has progressively wound down support for older Netezza hardware, we have become the continuity partner of choice for organisations who need their systems to keep running — safely, securely, and at peak performance — while they plan the next chapter of their data platform.
Our team includes former IBM Netezza engineers, data architects, software engineers, finance professionals, and management consultants. That breadth means we can engage at the technical level and the business level simultaneously — which is how we prefer to work.
